Table of Contents
The Setup
Having a spot that is dedicated to work is one way to improve your productivity. Find yourself a comfy chair, a good desk and good lighting. Once you have the location make sure it is free of any distractions and allows you to focus on the job at hand.
On your computer you may find it better to create a new login account that is specific to work, this will keep your mind on the job and not mingle your personal bookmarks with your business ones. There are some great apps that can limit your access to other apps and track your productivity. Using something like a ‘Tomato’ Timer with the Pomodoro Technique is a good way to get focus.
The Right Mind
Setting just 1 goal for the day is a good way to increase productivity. Once you have completed the goal, you can move on to other task that you have listed as important. Block out your calendar to allow you to focus on the task at hand, studies have proven that humans are not multi-taskers and the idea that you are getting more done is just an illusion.
Write down your goals for the day, week, and month. Use this list as your todo for each day.
Time Organization
Don’t let the time take advantage of you, set concrete goals and firm deadlines for getting things done.
Tips
- Know that you can only accomplish one goal a day.
- Don’t worry about all the emails, the important stuff will float back to the top.
- Balance work and play. Take some time to move around, get outside and do something for yourself.
