Road Trip Meal Ideas

Cold Dinner Taco’s on the Road!

Travelling on the road can get expensive if you rely on eating out at all of the fast food joints. Spending 30 bucks a day can quickly drain the wallet! Mrs. Adventure wanted to share some of our go to meals that we enjoy on the road.

Breakfast Ideas

(May or may not need wipeable/cleanable/recyclable dishes. May need a portable hot water maker such as coffee pot pluggable in cigarette lighter area)

Our version of Starbucks!
  • Avocado smashed, and non-toasted Multi grain sandwich thins buns.
  • Granola bar and cup of fruit.
  • Multi Grain thin buns and slice cheese with already cooked breakfast sausage-flat circle kind.
  • Precut cantaloupe pieces and yogurt (keep in ice-chest or portable fridge)
  • Orange juice or apple juice with peanut butter sandwich.
  • Banana or other fruit.
  • Fruit cups of orange slices or apple sauce with wipeable spoon.
  • Packet of oats if you can make instant hot water.
  • Cup of fruit.
  • Coffee if you can make instant hot water. Sugar and powder creamer. Maybe instant coffee.
  • Cold Wrap, large tortilla, shredded cheese, breakfast sausage, spinach leaves, ranch dressing. (Cold fully cooked sausage crumbles is found in the freezer area in the store)
  • Bagel and cream cheese (keep cream cheese in zip lock or container to store in ice-chest or portable fridge.
  • Muffins simple.

Lunch Ideas

  • Cold wrap, large tortilla, chicken in a can or tuna (squeeze juice out), spinach leaves, tomatoes, shredded cheddar cheese, ranch dressing.
  • Classic Peanut butter Jelly sandwich.
  • Bacon Lettuce Tomatoes sandwich, precooked bacon, mayo, multi grain thin buns.
  • Celery and peanut butter or apples and peanut butter.
  • Cold hotdogs, and chips. Fully precooked hotdogs and hotdog buns, ketchup and mayo, mustard.
  • Premade salad kit. Salad kit sold in the store. Mix all in the bag it comes in and place on a dish.
  • Cold wraps sandwich meats and cheese. Large tortilla, shredded or sliced cheese, sandwich meats.
  • Cold chicken from store deli. Cold pasta or potato salad.
  • Cold Pizza.

Dinner Ideas

Beef Wrap for Dinner!
  • Hoagie Sandwich, premade, store or from home.
  • Cold chicken and pasta or potato salad from the store.
  • Premade salad kit. Salad kit sold in the store. Mix all in the bag it comes in and place on a dish.
  • Chicken tostada can chicken- squeeze juice out, tomatoes, avocado, shredded lettuce, taco sauce, already made tostada corn shells. Can use large wrap flour tortilla.
  • Cold hotdogs, and chips. Fully precooked hotdogs and hotdog buns, ketchup and mayo, mustard.
  • Cold Spanish chicken wrap, large tortilla, already made Spanish rice, chicken in a can – drain juice out, salsa, lettuce, or spinach.
